About LODG

LODG structures are made from a revolutionary Interlocking Building System that is manufactured in the United States. Modular panels are simple to install with unique and strong tongue & groove connection and capable of being used as the sole framing material in a building structure.

An alternative to typical post-and-beam framing and exceptional alternative to wood construction, IBS panels allow for a substantial reduction in the amount of steel or lumber needed for buildings. In addition, the building technology can reduce construction time by nearly 60%.

Integrated Building System Applications

Benefits

  • Quick manufacturing response
  • Modular and easy to construct
  • Strong & long lasting
  • Energy efficient
  • Versatile for all types of building requirements

Technology

  • Galvanized Steel Skins - 26-gauge galvanized steel, ASTM specifications, and supported by 20-gauge structural steel stiffeners.
  • Insulation - class-1 panels, Closed Cell Poly-Isocyanurate (Poly-Iso or ISO) foam.
  • Reduced Energy Consumption - rigid Poly-Iso core of R-24.
  • Rigid, Lightweight, Durable, and Resistant - weighs 40% less than similar lumber panel, resistant to decay, fungus, moisture, mildew, and insects.
  • Environmental Certification - no CFCs or formaldehyde and made from 100% recyclable steel.
  • Quality and Value - Steel will not warp, crack, twist, bow, rot, shrink or swell, thereby, providing a quality product for many years. Additionally, the price of steel is typically more stable than wood, making the use of steel a cost-effective solution in residential and commercial construction.

Insulation

The insulating core of the IBS panel Class-1, Closed Cell Poly-Isocyanurate (Poly-Iso or ISO) foam. The insulating core of the IBS panel is Class 1, Closed Cell Poly-Iso rigid foam, injected as a liquid between the metal skins after the integration of the S-shaped structural stiffeners. The mixed foam components include a fire-resistant additive and when combined are foamed, baked, and adhered into place to create a hermetically sealed composite panel of consistent thickness. The combination of steel skin and fire- resistant foam greatly reduces the risk of combustion.

Poly-Iso is an evolution of polyurethane. It is stronger, has greater thermal resistance and offers one of the highest R-values per thickness of any insulation material on the market today. Poly-Iso insulation is a closed cell material meaning it does not absorb water, ensuring the thermal and structural performance of your insulation is maintained over time. This same closed cell structure enables PIR rigid insulation to have incredible compressive strength, which significantly contributes to the strength of our panels.

General IBS Panel Design Features

  • Galvanized steel panel skins are primer coated allowing for the application of virtually any desired internal and external finish.
  • Optionally, the panels can be made in a commercial-grade baked on paint finish, with an embossed pattern impressed into the panel surfaces, when interior and exterior finishes are not planned.
  • The interlocking construction system practically eliminates air, dust, and water infiltration while providing super structural strength.
  • POLY-ISO foam is chemically bonded to the galvanized steel skins, preventing condensation buildup, while providing superior insulation properties.
  • The S-shaped steel stiffener is the unique element that gives the IBS panel its super structural strength and spanning capabilities
  • The positive exterior to interior thermal break virtually eliminates potential thermal conductivity, providing excellent energy efficiency.
  • The closed cell PolyIsocyanurate foam core bonds the steel skins under heat and pressure, providing superior panel strength and insulation properties.
  • The Poly-Isocyanurate foam insulation also provides a Class-1 Fire rating.

Large Scale Production

The Manufacturing Facility

Production

IBS panels are manufactured in a continuous process on a highly advanced assembly line. Unlike traditional batch processing, the continuous process allows for a lower unit cost, and mass production. Computerized, with a sophisticated central control, the line can be completely automatic, semi-automatic, or manually controlled. Beginning operation in 1995, the US production line can produce over 8.7 million sq. feet or 3 million sq. meters of high-tech steel panels annually.

The Assembly Line

The 430-foot assembly line is composed of eleven (11) pieces of machinery, which process the top and bottom galvanized steel skins, while separately integrating the metal S-shaped steel stiffener between the skins. The integrated panel then meets a pressure foam conveyor and continues as a fully integrated IBS steel-foam insulated panel. The IBS panel is the first truly structural insulated panel to offer developers, architects and builders a variation on alternative construction technology. The panel is environmentally friendly and manufactured using sustainable steel resources. Class-1 Poly-Iso foam is chemically bonded to the galvanized steel skins with the integrated S-shaped structural steel stiffener. The process produces a true "structurally insulated panel," in a continuous length, and cut to order by a computerized control system.
